Planning for a time-efficient and fun-filled holiday is always the key to keep the tension levels down whilst travelling into an unknown land.
If you are planning to spend your summer holiday in Turkey, then there are a few practical tips you better bear in mind. Before booking your flight and the accommodation, it is good to know the location of the airport versus the location of the hotel to plan your budget, time and means of transfer. South, South West and West coasts of Turkey are the most favourite destinations for the beach people travelling to Turkey for the lovely beaches and tropical climate.
If you are travelling to the very South of Turkey, to places like Antalya, Alanya, Side, then the closest airport would be Antalya airport. It is conveniently located just outside Antalya city centre to the east on Alanya road. This airport serves really well for those staying around Antalya region namely Kemer, Tekirova, Beldibi, Belek. Belek is super conveniently located with its close vicinity to airport and it is one of the best destinations for large groups because of its easy access and number of really impressive all inclusive holiday resorts with all the comforts under the same roof. If you are staying somewhere in Alanya or Side which is further to the East of Antalya, then this journey takes nearly an hour (80 km).
Dalaman Airport is the one for you if you are heading to the Southwest of Turkey like Fethiye, Kas, Kalkan, Dalyan, Marmaris – the real hotspot for the tourists. One of the British tourists favourite resort Kalkan is nearly one and a half hours drive(128 km) and Fethiye is 45 minutes’ drive from Dalaman AP. If you are travelling to Oludeniz which is further down to the South of Fethiye , then it is 55 km, roughly an hours’ drive. And the distance between Dalaman and Marmaris, the greenest coasts of the South West Turkey is 95 km which is nearly an hour and a half drive. Marmaris is a good spot to set sail on traditional Gulet yachts if you are considering a legendary Blue Voyage.
If you are holidaying in Bodrum, Turgutreis, Yalikavak, then Milas Bodrum Airport is super convenient for those travelling to this far end of the South Western Turkey which is a peninsula and a great location for beach holidays, yachting and nightlife. It is roughly half an hour drive and the road is a broad dual carriageway with some pleasant scenery.
Last but not least, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is serving for those bound to Cesme (105 km), Kusadasi (77 km) and the recently fashionable surfing resort of the West: Alacati (95 km)
